Yup, this applies even more now that Agnes specifically said "a new tree means a new wood type!" in reference to the mangrove trees. There's still time before the 1.18 full release. PLEASE, Mojang. Please please do this.

If the mangrove can have its own wood, we can also make the azalea have its own.

The Azalea Log needs to be the same color as lush caves.

    • GREEN!!!

It makes sense for it to be gold or pink.

I say the wood should be more of a greenish color.  Or maybe the oak wood color with splashes of green?

Like what that minecraft dev (forgot who it was.. I’m sorry if you see this!) said at minecraft live, each new tree type should get an own wood type. But here we are, voting on a tree without an own wood type..

Do not be discouraged. There is still time and hope for it to come true.

I would like the wood of the Azalea to be a light pink hue I think it would look pretty in some builds.

For the sake of consistency atleast Azaleas must have their own wood type if we are still calling it a new tree. To quote Alien_Agent from reddit "Why would a tree that doesn’t have Oak leaves and isn’t grown from Oak saplings, and therefore is definitely not an Oak tree, have logs called Oak logs? Why would an Azalea tree be made out of logs with the name of another type of tree, which it isn’t?" I don't think the question can be summed up any more logically. Also they are vastly different trees and 'wood types' in REAL life. Please make this happen. I know we have a new mangrove wood now but still this tree deserves its own wood.

The comment of April 14, 2022 has an incredible argument with intelligence and a lot of sense. If there is a new one like the mangrove and it has its own wood, under the same logic that it has to obey the Minecraft rules, the same thing has to happen with the azalea tree, since it is a great inconsistency of the rule that each The tree in the game must have its own wood with its own color since the ability to dye the wood could not be added, since the very word of the developers says that and the azalea tree has the gigantic potential of having a wood and derivatives of this that can be distinguished from other existing trunks in the game and that do not comply yes or yes to implement it, so as not to contradict each other and that it complies with logic. It is as if an elephant had a dinosaur skeleton, because it does not have one of its own. Nonsense that shouldn't happen.

I think it would be fitting for a gray-ish or white wood, with the doors and trapdoors being like lattice, so we could make trellis as decoration now and better windows, green is a good idea as well but I think gray/white is easier to combine with other colors

I think the Azalea wood should be a cream wood maybe with a light tint of lavender.

Not Green cause real live azalea wood is more whitish cream colored with a hue of purpleish/pink.

I wish they the azalea had a pink and purple flower.

So maybe whitish cream bark twisted with a purple/pink hue for the center of the wood.

Warped wood is a bit green.

I feel Mojang missed the mark here with the Azalea and its wood (or lack thereof with a unique wood). They stated they don't want to add dying wood or planks because its by design and they want to make us go out and explore to get the new wood types/colors. So why didn't they add an Azalea wood type with a new color back in 1.18? This would have been even more incentive to go out and find Azalea trees and been an extra reward on top of finding a lush cave. The Acacia tree suffered from a similar problem before the community spoke up and Mojang changed the log to a new log. The color doesn't matter much to me as long as its a color of wood we don't already have, more options is always good in a sandbox.

It always irritates me when a new 'tree' type has the exact same wood as another, because I like to see the Minecraft world as a living, breathing environment. And there's something awesome about putting together different builds using different wood types: even just from the color, oak feels 'baseline' and suburban to me, spruce feels rustic and maybe medieval, birch feels light and elegant (and because I love birch trees I don't cut it down much so it ends up being rare in my survival builds), acacia feels airy and rich, and jungle feels, well, tropical! Dark oak in particular feels very refined and ancient - it's perfect for a more legendary structure. I have yet to decide how mangrove feels, as I haven't used it much, but it's definitely got a rich color and will surely end up in any swamp biome builds I do - same with mud bricks.

TL;DR I logged in specifically to see if there was an 'azalea wood' entry and make one if not. It'd be awesome to have another wood variant not only for the different color, but also the feel of the wood - what it lends to its structure in spirit and lore by the color, the means of acquiring it, and the shape of its blocks like doors and trapdoors.

Note on different pattern: I personally don't think the pattern should be different for azalea wood planks, but I do look forward to the door and trapdoor designs if this is added!

Fully agreed, it's so weird every other tree has wood while azalea doesn't.

No, I like the oak texture. I'd still use oak texture in a custom pack. It's a running joke and I love it!

Fully agree! New tree, new wood type! Mojang please!!!! A pale green and/or whiteish grayish color could be very nice for the planks. Or at the very least you could rename azalea to lush oak tree. Similar to who swamp oaks are different, lush oak trees are a bit different. The azaleas are just not consistent with the rest of the trees in the game.

After the release of Mangroves, Cherry, and Bamboo woodsets I feel like Azalea really needs its own set. I suggest a light minty green color or a light purplish color for the wood set.

I think that azalea would look amazing if it were a mild lavender color, mostly because we dont have any purple woods, and it would support the unique vibes that the lush caves give by adding an additional splash of color not often seen in the overworld
