Hi there! Here are some ideas to incentivize exploration in caves and make them more dangerous in less conventional ways:
-Muscovite: Can be used to make falling traps in caves, probably should only be able to be mined with Silk touch or some new extreme variant of silk touch. It would be cool if it cracked and led to fall damage even if you were many layers above it, but still standing on blocks that were above it.
-Magnesium: Magnesium explodes with a source of ignition. It would be neat if placing torches had an element of danger to it, like sometimes it causes an explosion within a certain vicinity of magnesium
-Pyrite: Fool's gold, it would be worthless for anything other than decoration, but would be fun to make gold finding more of a challenge
-Uranium: Could be used for making super tnt
-Cobalt: Used to make magnets (could be interesting for redstone)
-Gneiss/Shale/Pumice: Add more grey stone blocks for builders
-Limestone: Great for building, caves need more variation in mineralization
-Quicksand/quickmud: Blocks you fall into that make you sink and take damage due to pressures
-Mercury: Silvery liquid that would make you take extreme poison damage, and you'd need a special item to not die.
-Talc: Nice off-white building material
-Sulfur: Poison gas that would only stop when mining it and finding the source. Sulfur could have a plethora of other uses too.
