Player v. Player (PvP) Combat
My idea for a new combat system would be a mix of the 1.9 and 1.8 combat to make it competitive and complex but easier to physically do. I present a 10 cps cap, which takes a relative amount of skill but most people can do relatively well and would bring back combos and aim. As far as shields go they would reduce projectile damage by 85%, reduce melee damage by 70%, and reduce knockback by 75%. Also, fall damage can vary if the shield is facing the ground (-8%). Healing would be reduced to naturally regen half a heart every 20 seconds after eating then once that heart is healed go to 40 (+20s) seconds and so on until it caps out at 2 minutes. When initially eating you will heal 1 heart. Furthermore, the lower health you have your cps cap will be lowered by 1 cps and slowed down by 1%. On top of that, arrows like speed that seemingly have no purpose should be removed however, some arrows can deceive players into thinking they are useless. For example, a health arrow may seem useless but it deals more damage to undead mobs. Using an axe would also decrease durability on armor and shields faster but you will take 3% more knockback and the cps cap will be lowered to 5. When drawing back a bow or eating or opening a GUI (other than the menu) 3% more damage will be dealt. Also, you will deal more damage by hitting an opponent's head or back. Finally, swords would deal more damage than axes and the shifting animation would be changed back to pre 1.9.
