The Minecraft world would be much more interesting if the biomes generated randomly, instead of using temperature based generation.
Currently most of the worlds are massive clusters of plains/forest/taiga repeating all over, from ocean to ocean. Sometimes it's a desert/savanna combination instead, but it's all the same. No matter where you go, you see the same pattern. It's really disappointing, when you often can't find some of the biomes, like jungles, at all, because they are tens of thousands blocks away. And then the jungle spawns without bamboo forest, and you need to look for another one.
It would be much more fun, if the world was truly unpredictable. Maybe you could run into an ice spikes biome overlooking a mesa. Or mega taiga bordering jungle, next to ocean. How about snowy mountainous island with badlands in the middle of it? Or a mushroom fields in the middle of a dark forest?
The temperature based world generation doesn't add anything of value, it only takes away amazement and fun. I'm looking forward to the upcoming world generation update, and I hope change as described here could be implemented. It might be even more important with the upcoming underground biomes.
