Inventory management is awful. I suggest the ability to store all your items in a central location from which you can then craft directly.
We have the concept of "Ender Chest" which makes 27 different slots available across time, dimensions, and location.
How about combining such a thing with a crafting table and making the storage unlimited?
I present: Ender Bench
A crafting bench with unlimited storage. Whenever you have items, you can dump them into your nearest Ender Bench and they will be available at all other Ender Benches you own. Just like an ender chest.
You can craft directly from this Ender Bench, or you can remove items from it and put in your inventory. It work would like a normal crafting bench with recipes and a filter to show you what you are currently able to craft based in your Ender Bench inventory. Possibly combined with your "in hand" inventory.
Since the Ender Bench has unlimited storage, it would basically just be a simple counter for each block type.
Of course you can dump items right into the Ender Bench using a hopper. No need for complicated and lag prone sorting systems. Just dump output from every farm into the nearest Ender Bench.
