1.17 Snapshot 21w07a coal generation

In the new snapshot, coal doesn't generate at the bottom of the world past 0y blocks. It would make sense if it did and would feel right, even if it was barely present.

  I agree! Maybe coal could spawn near diamonds, because diamonds are pressurized coal?

  I agree. I think coal should generate at all levels like it used to. When you're caving it is all to easy to run out of torches. Now that the caves are even deeper, having coal in the deep dark will be even more crucial when lighting up these huge caves. Plus, having to return up to or near the surface often to find coal will be very time consuming.

  I think you are missing the point, running out of coal while lost deep in the world becomes a new threat making the underground more dangerous.
