A famous suggestion, championed by well-known players such as xisumavoid, is to allow it so that beacons prevent mob spawning in a certain area, which will become even more relevant while building mob farms with the 1.17+ expanded world height.
However, due to criticism of this being too powerful and potentially unwanted by the player who builds a beacon, I suggest that:
Only beacons which include netherite blocks in their base prevent mobs from spawning in a certain area. The area of this effect would be a percentage of the beacon's current total area of effect (depending on the tier of the beacon) equal to that of netherite blocks used as a part of the beacon's base.
This suggestion limits the power of the "beacons proofing mob spawns" idea by involving netherite, allows the player to control for this variable, and incentivizes netherite mining (including redstone-aided mining) for advanced late to end-game players by providing a new use to this rare material.
