Copper Redstone Wires?

Since copper is being introduced, I think a great idea for a new feature would be to introduce copper redstone wires/cables. The benefit of using them would be that they can be placed vertically up walls and underwater, with the drawback conversely being the length you can stretch them out to.

  Make the copper wire like the lightning rod, but with a redstone dust in the core. Change the texture of the lightning rod to have a red top like the redstone torch. Then the rod is not only directional, but you can tell what direction at a glance. It it receives on one end and outputs on the other end so you can lay them side-by-side. This means it doesn't break any current redstone mechanics or rules, it only adds to them.

  Copper wire / rods should not be waterproof unless they are coated in ... idk, resin? A Minecraft rubber equivalent.
