Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

A True Black Block (Onyx)

With the addition of Blackstone we now have a set of black blocks.  However, Blackstone textures are very noisy and technically aren't color neutral.  What we need is a smooth, glassy set of blocks that are pure black, similar to how quartz and its variants are white, smooth textures.

Onyx is a fitting name, but the name or how it's obtained don't really matter.  Having Blackstone without a cleaner black texture is like trying to built something white out of diorite because quartz doesn't exist: very limiting and unsatisfying.

    I think that the How it's obtained does matter because Onyx is a crystal and it could be obtained by mining in the caves, so it's actually a new ore, it's not that simple

    Onyx could be a new ore for the deep dark, like copper is a new ore for the surface. It would mostly be a decorative block, but it could power beacons & could be crafted into an item that reverts insomnia, an armor piece that negates insomnia entirely, or a building block that stops phantoms from spawning within a specific radius.
