Worried Copper is not relevant

I personally feel like copper doesn't really do a lot and you are likely to completely ignore it when mining unless you go specifically to build a copper build. Maybe that isnt so bad but I feel weird about a mineral resource having only cosmetic uses. This exists as a call for people to give some real thought to weather copper is good enough in its current state.

    I would be fine with copper being purely cosmetic if there was another new (and more useful) ore to hunt for. But if copper is all that's being added, it needs to be much more useful if it wants to tempt players to spend more time underground.

    Yea, like it doesn't have to be an armor set or weapon set, but could possible help in other ways. like maybe adding a copper block to an armor could make it where you move slightly faster the more you move around.

    I feel like it suffers most from the fact that the game's basic metal tools and systems are basically already there and use Iron or Gold. Copper Pipes? Well, we have Iron Hoppers. Blast Furnaces already exist, Smokers already exist, rails already exist. Etc.

    I think this is a case where either they need to change old recipes to incorporate Copper, like Powered Rails, or come up with a cheaper and only slightly different alternative to existing assets, like a scaffolding block, a faster minecart or a new hopper type, instead of waiting to come up with something completely new and niche. Same goes for Amethyst. My take is that they should look at making old recipes use it, too, like replacing Glass used to craft End Crystals for instance.

    Melly Dow, notice that cauldrons are getting loads more useful in Caves & Cliffs. You will be able to use them to get Powdered Snow as well as renewable lava using Pointed Dripstone. As for Copper, it is still very early in development. Building uses are actually a huge part of Minecraft, and Copper is really unique when it comes to building. Besides, they seem to have a lot of plans for it. For instance, the Brushes we've seen during the Archaeology video in Minecraft Live seemed to be made out of Copper. Copper seems to have a significant historical factor due to how it weathers and its possible relationship to archaeology, and I definitely like that design. It will definitely be a more themed, useful and integrated building mineral than Quartz. There are still a lot of things we don't know about when it comes to Copper and its uses, we just need to be patient.

    Ziad El-Moursy, I think quartz is a good thing to compare it to, quartz seems pretty good balance wise, it can be obtained plentifully for building via trading but miust e mined for crafting redstone components (and the observer is a frequently udsed component)
    I think that if all copper makes is the spyglass, lightning rod, and possibly archeology brushes, that it is likley that you will only bother to collect about 1 stack in a world unless you specifically want to build with it and currently to do anything large scale it doesnt even seem very realistic to build anything big with only being able to mine it.
    Perhaps they will make it common to find copper blocks of various weatheredness from archeology that might help.
    The big thing is that extrinsicly motivated players will see copper as a pointless addition unless it gets more important uses.

    It definitely could become more desirable than it is now. I think that if the Spyglass is given more functionality and if Archaeology is truly interesting so that you want to keep continuously doing it, Copper could be even much more relevant than Quartz.

    well, actually you sholdn't be worried for copper because mojang is amazing and will find all cool methods to use copper. What I am worried about is the mod compatibility as many tech mods have copper implemented
