Underground dirt is when dirt appears in formations underground, similar to granite, andesite and diorite. I think that it makes caves look ugly, and I think the Mojang team should get rid of underground dirt entirely, or at least make it not generate in large caves or dripstone caves. Dirt is the most common block in Minecraft besides Stone, and it is just annoying when it generates underground, as you have to start using a shovel instead of a pickaxe, and it breaks the flow of mining, and getting dirt in your inventory is just annoying. My solution is replacing the dirt with a much rarer resource, Clay.
Here are some reasons clay would be better:
- Clay is reasonably rare, and finding it underground will incentivize players to mine to find it
- Clay can be used for bricks and terracotta, which are popular building blocks that require a ton of clay, which is hard to get, and it would be so much better if there was a reliable source of clay like caves
- Clay naturally occurs in caves, near stalactites and water, as the calcium in the cave water creates growths of clay, which become stalagmites and stalactites. Finding clay in large caves and dripstone caves will be realistic and offer a unique aesthetic in these new biomes.
- The caves now naturally generate with water, which is a fitting place to put loads of clay around and in the aquifers found near large caves.
This is why I think that clay should replace dirt underground.
