After a lot of consideration and a lot of thinking, I have decided to write this thread. After experimenting with the new cave generation, I must say that I was flooded with multiple different emotions. At first I was excited and I was loving what I was seeing, but after a while, the new caves did not sit right with me. What did I realise? The cave sizes are not correct. Do not get me wrong, big caves have always been a dream of mine, but not enormous ones. These caves look like massive TNT explosions. I've interacted with multiple players of the Game, and we all had the same opinions as to what the perfect cave generation would be. Instead of going big, It should be medium sized, And visually improved, caves that would look magical and mystical, aesthetical, while keeping the classic Minecraft feeling. Personally I believe that, having enormous caves like the ones we got in the latest snapshot, Would be very troublesome in various ways. First things first, massive quantities of mobs would spawn in them due to the dark light levels, hence lag would increase in servers, esepcially multiplayer ones. Secondly, Mob proofing caves in order to construct farms, would be way harder, and way more resource consuming. Lastly, Mining would be way more difficult, and less entertaining than what it currently is. In other words, We need caves that represent and match the size of the game's structures, The game's surface generation, and most importantly, caves that are suitable for the size of the player and the mobs that exist in the game. Caves that will be more mining-friendly and more lag-friendly, More aesthetic caves rather than massive holes. Of course, I do respect the staff's hard work so far, But we have been told to express our opinions on topics that we think could use some improvement, and that's what I have decided to do.
