The basic hostile mobs (Zombies, Skeletons and Spiders) should strengthened below Y=0 giving them a different look to flesh out the lower levels.
Zombies
Zombies could have a slightly darker tone of green for their skin and make slightly more vicious sounds. These creatures have been subject to the dark caves for so long that their sight has been harmed, (yes like the Warden) however, rather than having the same ability as the Warden they are just less smart and have worse pathfinding, for example, they may fall off bridges crossing chasms in the depths or may accidentally fight each other. These zombies are attracted to soul light due to its odor, if you hold out a soul torch or place a soul campfire, they will attempt to follow it. They will be slightly larger than the average Zombie signifying their added strength. They have 1.5x the hearts of a normal Zombie but do 2x the damage with their disease ridden bodies.
Skeletons
Skeletons at this depth use pickaxes for their weapons, primarily wielding iron picks with 3% drop rate but may spawn with a gold pick, giving them the possibility of dropping rare ores. They wear ripped clothing like the Stray's and their bones have black ash sprinkled over their body. If one of these Skeletons spawn without a pickaxe (low chance) they can steal your bow upon hitting you with their flailing arms, the bow has a guaranteed drop after you defeat the Skeleton.
Spiders
