When the Deep dark was announced, I was surprised, It really felt like This area could have a ton of possibilities, and many mysteries were arisen. What Is the warden, what Is the sculk? If anything, Much like how the Wither skeletons lead to the wither, and the endermen lead to the End and the Ender dragon, I think a Boss (Which Is greatly overdue) Is highly necessary, which has lead me to coming up with a new Idea: Deep Dark shrines and sanctorums, Home to the Deacons under the control of the wardens and their frail hivemind: the Beholder.
Within the Deep dark, small Shrines constructed from stone could be occasionally found, with 2-6 Deacons surrounding a chest filled with loot. The deacons Would be smaller, more humanoid Counterparts to the warden, which have 35 HP and wear Black and Turquoise robes made from sculk. They'd use magic to create roots below the player, which deal damage and inflict slowness 2, so they can get close enough to stab you with their sword, or even to throw daggers (assuming we'd have a chance to have daggers) at you.
Of course, within the much larger sanctorums, a warden and countless deacons will spawn, with their source being asleep at a certain large room. The Beholder Itself would be a boss (An actual boss, may I mind you) that could be beat by those who at least have Iron gear and a few totems. This large, Eye-like beast would have 250 HP and would stay dormant on It's lumpy Sculk throne, which tentacles and eyes protrude from.
