I think we should have 2 new armors with specific mechanics (linked to combat update)
First, the gem armor:
Using different gems for each parts, and a "new" gem, the ruby:
Boots: 2 emeralds and 2 rubies
Legs: 2 emeralds, 2 rubies, 1 lapis, 1 quartz and 1 diamond
Chest: 3 emeralds, 3 rubies, 1 lapis and 1 quartz
Helmet: 2 emeralds, 2 rubies and 1 diamond.
I don't have a specific idea of the final colour of the armor. Maybe a purple ? However, the main goal is that this armor have a better protection against negative potions or effects, it's a little bit "magical". Every negative effect is reduced (his duration or intensity). Agains other weapons, the armor should be around the diamond armor resistance, maybe a slightly less. To be fair, the ruby must be as hard as the emelard to be mine but can't be trade with the villagers. Basically, it would be an end-game armor, the player may have to choose between gem armor or netherite dependig of the mission.
Second, the studded armor
It was one of the first armor of minecraft, but useless
We need it back with more uses.
First the recipe: For every piece: The Chainmail Armor + The Leather Armor
The resistance of the armor must be at least the same as the iron armor.
But, this armor gives the player a way better protection against arrows. They are a huge threat with the recently added pillagers, alongside the stray and skeletons. Even in pvp, with bows and crossbow. Because it's hard to make and quite powerful, it's a mid-game armor, after iron.
