With the upcoming Caves and Cliffs update, (and the fact that Minecraft is making the overall world depth much deeper, I think that it would be worthwhile to look into the possibility of adding a new ocean biome in the future: The Hadal Zone (name subject to change of course). Essentially, this biome would go much, much deeper than the current deep ocean biome (almost down to bedrock deep). This area would be shrouded in eternal darkness (making potions of night vision or better yet, some kind of new item that could be held like a small torch to see essential). There could be new resources/structures (incorporating existing elements as well, such as magma blocks for thermal vents) to make the perilous trip down to these depths worthwhile to the player (always keeping in mind the exploration aspect of the game), with lots of variety between such areas (to keep things fresh). There are also many mobs (both real and more fantastical) that could inhabit such a biome, but that would be for another category. Update aquatic certainly massively helped the oceans, but there should be just as many different types of ocean biomes as there are on land in my opinion (to truly make the oceans diverse and worth living in/exploring for unique resources).
