With the extended height of cave generation in Snapshot 21w06a, something I thought about is it would be harder for Redstoners to light caves to make certain Redstone contraptions to work more efficiently as:
1. There is a larger area necessary to light with the new cave generation.
2. Caves extend even deeper than before, also significantly increasing the depth of which a mob could spawn underground.
Mob spawning is dependant on the chunks a player is in, and currently independent of the Y-axis. A simple solution I propose is to have it dependant on the Y-axis, maybe ±48 blocks from the player's current coordinates. Not only would this midigate the issue of needing to light caves deeper underground, but it also has increased performance implications, as the game would not have to worry about spawning mobs father away than strictly necessary.
Understandably, difficulty also needs to be considered, therefore, the Y-axis spawning radius shouldn't be too small as to have mobs spawn less frequently. The exact values can be tweaked, I'm open to other suggestions.
