Amethyst's recipes and uses right now are obscure at best. It needs a use that will incentivize players to continuously farm it as Mojang intended. None of the uses it currently have do this. The telescope is a one-time craft, the Blocks, if players ever want to build with them, will just be mined out of the geode and not crafted. And as for tinted glass... I can see very few scenarios where we will actually need this block. But, tinted glass seemed like such an obscure addition to the game that it got me thinking. Normal glass lets light in because it is transparent. Tinted Glass, is still transparent, but somehow blocks light. So, that means that Amethyst is like an anti-torch, stopping light from passing through. Things suddenly got more interesting. Amethyst can invert Light now. Normally, it lets off light, shown by the Clusters, but when combined with a light-related material like glass, it inverts it. Now, a whole lot more possibilities are opened. My suggestion is to add Tinted Crystals, a placeable variant of the Amethyst Crystal crafted with one glow ink sac and two amethyst shards. These items are unique in that while they do not give off light, they stop mobs from spawning like a torch would. These would be incredibly useful for builds that do not want light, but still don't want creepers spawning and wreaking havoc on their constructions. The crystals would look like candles, but made of Amethyst and slightly skinnier.
