Developers have expressed a wish to not have natural disasters or similar occurrences, but I believe that some forms of greater weather could be beneficial or manageable, and would be very fun. And so, Snowstorms:
- Being outside during a snowstorm would, as many have suggested, give the freezing effect. This would then me mitigated through a full set of leather armor or heat sources, which are the same as light sources.
- The particles of snow during a snowstorm would be twice as plentiful, a simplistic and realistic method to reduce visibility.
- The speed at which snow layers appear on the ground would be doubled, and would naturally be able to continue stacking higher than one layer. This would allow for the snow to build up, possibly to over single block amounts, and so player could have the fun experience of shoveling out the entrances to their homes. This would feel very realistic, and would be a nice quirky thing, also acting as a less harsh alternative to the avalanches some want. The snow layer build up could be turned of with a gamerule, as for some people, especially in creative worlds, people might not want it to build up so high on their builds. The "disaster" of having the front of your house potentially covered is easily mitigated through placing torches around the outside of your house, a practice that is already quite common, which should help meet the developers concerns, and give solutions to them.
