Massive oceans and ships

Why are minecraft oceans so small we can cross them in a day? Maybe we should have an ocean so large that it takes a few days to cross them. And maybe ad some lonely rebuild shipwrecks that can be piloted crewed with pirates

    Oceans can be very large. Your experience of oceans is likely very different to other people’s, as it depends on your world seed. Larger shipwrecks would be cool, but pilotable boats would be too hard to implement.

    I agree that oceans should be larger. In general I think the terrain generation should create large continents that are surrounded and separated by even larger oceans. That way there's a clear delineation between different areas in a Minecraft world - as of now it just goes on forever as a patchwork of biomes - which makes navigating easier, forces you to at first make do with the biomes on the continent you spawned on, makes going exploring by crossing the ocean a big undertaking and makes creating a connection over seas between continents a project worth doing.

    It' would be nice if this was combined with better rivers and more interesting ships, but that's another story.
