more melee weapons and armor

Longswords, shortswords, hammers, double sided axes, daggers, great swords, blades that can be dual-wielded, and throwing knives.  All of these weapons could have different ranges, attack speed, and damage.  More armors like light, medium and heavy.  Each would impact movement speed in a different way but also have a different armor rating.  Maybe certain armors give different buffs to a certain play style.  I think this could make combat in minecraft much more fun and customizable.

    That would be amazing to have on Minecraft.
    Maybe It could add new combat animations making fighting more dynamic, It also gives players more freedom to do things like role playing and world building.Amazing idea

    scythes and gauntlets would be interesting too, gauntlets would add a new armor slot or could be equipped in place of a shield, having the option of being used for defense while you crouch and scythes would be a wepon/tool
