a highly requested feature of 1.17 is some way of sliding down mountains however barley anyone has any idea of how to implement this feature that what my post try's to address
firstly there no need to add a new item for sleds because boats will work just fine and secondly we don't need to tilt the boat on a 45 degree angle because falling will do just fine.
the first change we need to make is boat speed on snow, snow layers, powdered snow needs to match what its like on water.
the second is more complicated boats only sink in powdered snow when moving and they sink fast they don't experience a slow down but if a player was riding down a mountain it will act as a gradual slope down the mountain. boats should also transfer some of the downward momentum into forward momentum this is to assist in making you really feel big drops and steep slopes. boats would also be able to climb snow layers to actually jump off ramps
this implementation still fits into vanilla while being fun and unique for players to enjoy
