I have a few ideas about metallurgy in Minecraft. The game so far, has the basic metal ores and their ingot variants as well as the smithing table being able to upgrade diamond gear to netherite gear. Here are some ideas:
The Introduction of Alloys: Alloys, in the real world, are materials made of two different metals to get a product that attains advantages of either of its ingredients. I think that gold and copper could be combined to create a red gold alloy like in the real world with a red-ish tint in its gear. Alloy smelting could be implemented with the functionality of a second input slot in a blast furnace! This could be used to smelt two ores or ingots together to create an alloy ingot. Another possible alloy could be steel, which is combination of iron and carbon (in Minecraft's case, coal/charcoal or something else suitable). These alloys could greatly increase the durability of their predecessors.
The Introduction to Gilding: I've seen many ideas about gilded armor. So, I would like to bring this to attention with my own twist. Gilding could work similar to combining netherite to diamond gear to create netherite gear. Gilding would line the material given to the gear in the smithing table. Gilding gold into other types of metal armor (iron, diamond, and netherite only) would make piglins neutral to the wearer without needing to wear a piece of gold armor. Gold gilding could also add statistical changes to the armor like less durability and more enchantibility.
