Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

I think this would be something most people don't realize they'd want until they get it. It would be so useful! In addition, non-smeltable items shouldn't be able to be placed in the top part of a furnace in the first place. Not that it would help much until we get movable block entities, since the hopper would still get clogged and require manual cleanout.

Totally agree! This would be really nice. If the item isn't smeltable and there is a hopper underneath, it passes through.

Agreed. If a non-smeltable item can enter. Furnace, it should be able to leave the furnace. This would increase productivity especially on SMP/Realms.

I agree, however, one could also argue that many items should not even be able to be placed in a furnace in a first place. I found emeralds, arrows, etc can all be placed in the top, but obviously can't be smelted. There are also a few items that can go in the "fuel" slot, but can not be burned. Like why can't we burn signs, trapdoors, etc. There's many combustible items that you can't place in the fuel slot.

I would argue it's well past time the furnace was updated appropriately. I can't believe how poor auto smelting and filtering systems still are in minecraft.

I, like you, like to use auto smelting for various farms. For a gold farm, might I suggest using 2 or 3 filters for each stackable item type. Then your blast furnaces wont get clogged.
