    Other examples include wood which could splinter, cobwebs and chains would fall apart, dirt-like blocks being dug out, etc. Basically, any block that has has a cracked or worn out version will start to look like that version when mined.

    There is also the idea that blocks retain any damage that is done to them, but there are a couple problems with that. For example, you may or a mob may damage something that you did not want damaged and so it is stuck that way. It also makes cracked variants of blocks kind of pointless as you can just mine the blocks to make them look the same. If this were to be added there would have to be a way to repair the damaged blocks. Still, it would be cool to be able to have cracked windows

    One thing that I think would be easy and would make the game look better would be for the cracks on the blocks to resemble the block. For example, the cracks on dirt would be more brown, and the cracks on acacia planks would be more orange. This could just be done by making the current mining texture be slightly transparent
