Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

I think it's a missed opportunity that they reversed this back. Floating candles have a lot of potential outside their intended use. Minecraft's blocks are meant to be polyvalent, too.

You can still make candles float, just place them on a solid block and break it. They just can't be placed straight on top of non solid blocks.

Yeah! I was really excited to be able to make a wizard room with floating candles, up until the next snapshot came out and patched it. It's kind of irritating how Mojang keeps saying they want to encourage creativity, and then limit what we can do. :(

I agree. The fact that they now require a block underneath to be placed is actually pretty annoying. This is also like the old pumpkin and fence gate placing mechanics. These blocks also needed a block underneath to be placed. Luckily this got removed. Candles are actually very nice for jump and runs. And with jump and runs blocks are often floating, meaning it is annoying that you have to fist place a block underneath to place the candle. Please revert the change. I have also seen people complaining that you can have floating candles, ut that isn't really an issue in my opinion, I mean it is minecraft. In minecraft you can have most other blocks also float, like stone etc. so candles should also be able to easily float.
