In snapshot 20w48a of Minecraft Java 1.17 Caves & Cliffs Update the dripstone came out, where we already have stalactites and stalagmites; I feel that later on there will be natural generation simulating reality, where the stalactite accumulates calcassic sediment and in turn nourishes the stalagmite through the drops that fall from the stalagmite BUT this happens mainly due to water; you know what I'm getting to? If the stalactites and stalagmites that we now have are chalcassic formations, why isn't there another generation of dripstone made of obsidian or a similar material?
Let me explain, I imagine that soon we will have this natural generation of stalactites and stalagmites through the original generation of our planet, but if there is this same generation but with lava?
They would be much rarer, they would only be bitten with diamond or netherite peaks, the stalactites of this material when falling in addition to doing much more damage, would burst the block that is below and the stalagmites of this material would do constant damage to the mob that is above of this; although for the natural generation of this dripstone it would be much slower than its hydric counterpart.
