I think it would be really cool to add some more variety to the items you can upgrade with the Smithing Table. Using the new Copper Ingot, I think we could have interesting sets of possible upgrades. I have a silly idea in mind, but if this does go noticed and then implemented into the game, then I think it would HAVE to be thought about again, since it would likely be unbalanced.
Here's what I've got:
Adding copper to gold armor - Not only will this increase the durability of gold armor, but it'll have an interesting effect. Putting copper and gold together, copper, gold, copper, gold - COLD. Upgrading gold armor with copper using the smithing table will grant you "Cold Armor", which would look like regular gold armor but a bit less saturated and more orange. It would still work with piglins, and it would have an interesting effect while being worn. If the player is wearing it in any area with a normal temperature, such as their overworld house or a forest, they would get the new freezing effect, as the armor is cold - and it would slowly damage them. However, if the player is wearing cold armor inside a lava pool, or while on fire, or inside the nether, or anywhere that's hot - the player will take no damage at all, not even fire damage, because the armor balances it out. Effectively it would serve as a good piece of armor for the nether, basically giving you fire resistance at all times, but at the cost of freezing you when you go back to the overworld.
