1.17 Sleds

So, I was hauling up my mother's decorative sled for her Christmas Decorations, and I had a thought, why not add sleds to Minecraft?  It's simple really, crafting involved 3 wooden slabs, two iron ingots, a wooden fence post, a piece of leather,  and a piece of string, (different wood types result in different sleds, and once crafted the leather can be dyed simply by clicking on it with the desired dye).  Sleds could be used to get across the new mountains quickly, and would be able to be equipped with a chest to store things in.  Furthermore, one could simple use a lead to hitch up one to three of their tamed wolves to the sled, effectively creating a dog sled.  The more dogs, the faster it'll go.  Players ride on the back, holding the handle, and can either kick off the back to propel oneself through the snow, or use a "bone on a stick" to entice their wolves to go faster.  Perfect for long treks through the mountains, or even through the ice filled snowy tundra and ice plains biomes.  If not attached to a dog team, it will be pulled down by gravity when going down a snow covered hill, perfect for some mountain fun!  Oh, and did I mention that, when using a sled, you won't be pulled down by powder snow?  Yep, you'll glide right over it, although if your not quick your dogs will sink in so be careful.  Anyways, just thought I'd share this with you, Rockatoa, Brickticks out!

    ok seria una buena idea que no te baje vida en una caida :D pero que se balla rompiendo y tambien te puedas caer  que tenga encantamientos especiales como no caer es mi opinion :D

    I think that boats could be a perfect way to partially implement sleds - just have them go fast on snow. I think it could also be fun if you could lead dogs while in a boat on snow/ ice and have them pull you.

    This exactly what I was thinking; it's almost like there is a giant community of players. However, I do have a few different images as to the crafting, and a few specifications that I would like to emphasize.

    Crafting

    Looking up photos, I noticed that the seat seemed to be made by tying leather to a frame, and I thought that scaffolds looked like that. However, bamboo isn't the easiest to find, so I suppose it could also be an item frame, however, the scaffolding would offer better warmth, concealment, and protection. You would use waxed lightning rods, or waxed crushed bamboo which is a flattened board of bamboo obtained by feeding a panda a cocoa bean-filled bamboo stick, and taking it from its very glad mouth. Bamboo sticks would be lighter and would make it easier on your dogs' end. They are waxed so that they repel water, reducing capillary drag, helping the sleigh to slide better. However the wax will wear off and your sleigh will not slide as easily so you must wax the runner rails again with honeycomb.

    There are many factors that must come together to get the sled to make a smooth entrance into Minecraft. One idea I had was to make powder snow flow, though tens of times slower than lava and unable to move entities in its range (unless perhaps the player causes it to become avalanche powder snow by walking on highly sloped deep patches of it without snow shoes, in which case it would flow ten times faster and eight times farther than water and cause sloped powder snow below it and three blocks outward to become avalanche powder snow as well, by a ten percent piece of bad luck), it would take the shape of sloped water. Additionally, the source block of the powder snow has gravity. Doing this would smoothen the mountain slopes, and allow for a smoother sleigh ride.

    Sleds should travel much faster when on powder snow.

    With this sleigh, you can ride in the seat near the front, or standing on the back. However, if you want to use your wolves, you must ride in the back, standing on the runner rails, so you can see the terrain in front of your pups.

    If you want to haul items on this sleigh, you may tie four bundles on the sides of the sleigh near the back, or you can set seven down in the seat towards the front. However, to haul more items, you need to stand on the back.

    Yes!!!!! I also posted about how we should readd the skis, but i like this better! 

    I do hope that if this is added it comes with a better animation that is more visually pleasing than a horizontal sled going in zigzags down a hill.

    I do love the idea that powdered snow should flow, especially since it is placeable in a bucket now.

    Going off the sled idea, they should add skis which would allow for easy travel on snow. It would add ice physics to snow and snow covered blocks (affecting only the wearer), and it would allow the wearer to go down snow block slopes without holding down "W". Skis would decrease durability if the wearer is not on snow or snow covered blocks. Also, wearing them will only let you sink at most 1 block into powdered snow and you wouldn't be slowed down.

    maybe instead of sleds, boats would be able to travel faster in snow than sprinting would (going downhill of course)

    This would be a great idea if biome clusters were a lot bigger, meaning more space to fit in bigger mountains. The "bone on a stick" isn't really necessary, when we could just right-click to speed them up, similar to Breath of the Wild's sand seals. Instead of it being the more dogs, the faster, it would be a lot less overpowered if there was a limit, maybe 4 dogs, but still with each one adding to the speed. Speed and acceleration is determined by the weight of the chest (Not to add a new weight system for every item, but just depends on how many slots are used up).

    What if you put a shovel on the front in crafting and it could be a snow plow like how Ravagers root up snow when they walk! This could be a fun way to get snowballs!

    i feel like this should also replace boats on ice, a glitch that was turned into a feature, and doesn’t make much logical sense. it would be so fun do whip around in an ice biome! plus it would help immensely in traversing the 1.18 mountains. i don’t agree with other people in this comment section who say that you should be able to attach your dogs to boats as well. the point of the sled is to replace the ridiculousness of boats on land. simply put, i love the idea of sleds in minecraft, and i think they fit so well!
