Copper plated blocks and copper plated bricks should be introduced to solve the problem of copper blocks being too expensive to build with.
They should have the originally released copper textures (copper blocks->copper plated blocks and cut copper blocks->copper plated bricks), because I think most people are happy with them and they are what people want to build with. These copper plated blocks should be made by combining one copper ingot and another block on a smithing table. (Maybe stone for the normal and stone brick for the bricks? idk for sure what would fit well here, if anyone has a good idea comment it below) A similar mechanic should be added to the other metals for consistency. Also, I think a dark gray iron plated block with the current copper texture would look sick. Also, a copper block could also be introduced which takes the normal 9 ingots to be crafted and has a similar design to the gold block.
This solves the problem of consistency because it makes sure the normal copper block fits in with the design and crafting recipe of other ore blocks, unlike the 4 ingot method Mojang recently changed too. The current copper block texture already looks plated so it fits in perfectly with that. It also adds to the use of the smithing table logically. And lastly and most importantly, it makes the great looking copper blocks even more affordable to build with in a way that makes sense and keeps crafting recipes consistent.
