The Infestation would be a new biome in the End to give variety in the environment, while maintaining the feel of desolation and isolation that the End currently conveys.
This biome would give a spotlight to the under-utilised Endermite, allowing them to spawn naturally. To fit in with the idea that Endermites are parasites, Endermen would not spawn in the biome as co-existing with Endermites is undesirable, further differentiating this biome from existing areas in the End.
The environment would be jagged on the surface, populated with many burrow-like caves appearing like former Endermite infestations that have long died out. This could be supported by new a new block, such as End Soil, which may cover large areas of the biome both above and below ground to imply long-term change in the structural integrity of the ground as a result of such infestations.
Live structures could be incorporated as either rare structures or as a common generation feature, which may be able to encourage players to the biome in order to explore such colonies for resources.
