I think the telescope should not be crafted with amethyst shards, instead it should use glass panes. For a use for the amethyst, I suggest the kaleidoscope, which is crafted with an amethyst shard, a diamond, a quartz, and an emerald, a glass pane and 4 copper, like this:

the kaleidoscope, when used, will tint your vision a random color, and also give a random effect, either good or bad. you should keep a milk bucket handy when you drink this. In addition, there should be another new effect, which can only be obtained when you use the kaleidoscope, to make it useful: Stealth, which makes your footsteps make no noise, thus making you harder to hear to the warden and skulk sensors, meaning they only hear you some of the time. This will make the warden a bit easier to beat, since it can two-shot a player wearing full netherite armor.
