    But there should be a gamerule for people to turn that on and off (except for copper then). I can understand not everyone wants that to happen.

    I do love this idea tho

    Trees should generate with mossy logs since many do IRL in wetter environments. They're also adding Moss in the Lush Caves (maybe used to spread it) so it makes sense to put Age mechanics to that as well.

    Iron should get rusted, near water, too. The iron ore looks rusted, yet there's no way to make iron blocks look the same way.

    To make it less annoying it could have aging on builds/chunks the player doesn't visit as much so that they won't have to clean their base or house as much and so that it makes them visit their old places sometimes. There could also be a system where if villagers, pillagers, or piglins are in the chunk it won't age (so the player can prevent the build from falling apart and so that naturally generated structures won't fall apart if mobs live in it).

    If this was added, it would happen super slowly so that it would only become apparent after the world was played for a long time. Also, many structures are already eroded.
