I was watching videos and it came to my attention that it takes an obscene amount of Copper to make one set of copper stairs. Approximately 81 Ingots are needed to create 1 set of 4 stairs at current. A proposed way to fix this would be the following.
Instead of dropping the block like they do now (This would go for Iron and Gold as well), a mined block of Copper (or iron or gold) ore would drop between 1-3 Impure [INSERT METAL NAME] Chunks. Each could be then smelted into an ingot.
Then, with the addition of Fortune, you would get a maximum of 4-12 Impure Chunks, but on average between 2-6 Chunks.
This servers several functions. It allows you to leave Copper blocks as it is now, but allows for actual construction WITH copper in Survival that doesn't strip mine your world to the ground. It allows for an increase of Gold and Iron in Survival worlds without the need for Gold and Iron Farms (Which Mojang has been trying to destroy for years). It also opens the possibility for other applications, like Iron and Gold stairs/slabs/walls, Filigreed armors/weapons (Wild Spitball there, no real merit to expect this), and other such fun things.
So yeah... Make Ores drop like Coal/Redstone/Lapis, and it really would solve a great deal of problems with the future 1.17 update.
