Better ways to craft copper blocks

The current way to craft the copper blocks is way too expensive. You need upwards of hundreds and thousands copper ingots to make a decent build in survival mode. All of the blocks should either be able to be crafted easily with the stonecutter or with changed recipes, and example being using 4 ingots to make a block instead of 9.

  I already have a solution as idea: the metal melter or metal shaper. So it's essentially a stonecutter for metals.

  I have an idea : 

  What if copper instead of dropping an actual ore it will drop "un-smelted copper parts" from 2 parts up to 5 .

  The recipe for a copper block will be changed to 4 "smelted copper parts" or "copper parts" to get a copper block.

  Also copper can be cut in the stone cutter :D
