This would be great, but there may have to be a way for people to access glass more quickly or even bottles.

That’s nice, but it would make survival harder

Good idea. What if there was a 10% chance of the water giving you the poison effect and you would have to put it in a furnace to make it a 0% chance of poison.

Or instead of being hard mode, it could be an optional thing. You could switch it on and off in the game settings, so that it some players who really don't want it, don't have to have it.

Good idea, a lot of things would probably have to be tweaked as well for the thirst bar. The player could sip from any water sources but it’ll only give them half a bar. Glass bottles and water bottles could now generate in villages or other structures to make getting bottles easier. Like raw meats, bottles have to be put in a furnace to make pure water so that you don't get the 5-10% chance of getting hunger or thirst effect. A new utility block can be added for thirst mechanics called the juicer, which can mix water bottles with fruits, or other food items to create new juices that fill up your thirst bar more. With a new utility block comes with a new villager profession as well, called the mixologist or the barkeep, which obviously can trade the new juices with you for emeralds. Perhaps hotter biomes and dimensions such as the nether, savanna, mesa and desert biomes make your thirst drain faster? Perhaps the lower your thirst the more damage the player will take as well?

The bar should go down faster in a desert or the Nether

Concept: An optional Thirst system to add survival depth, rewarding preparation with positive buffs.

    Core Mechanics:

Slow Depletion: Thirst decreases over 2-3 game days. Visual warnings appear before any health loss.

Risk/Reward Drinking: Drink from any source, but unsafe water may cause brief Nausea.

Progression: Craft a Waterskin (early), use Glass Bottles, or collect rain in Cauldrons for safe "Fresh Water."

Key Reward: A "Hydrated" buff (e.g., faster health regen) makes it strategic, not a chore.

    Enriches Gameplay:

Biomes Matter: Thirst drains faster in deserts, adding challenge.

Food Use: Soups and melons also replenish thirst.

New Potions: Potion of Endurance could slow thirst drain.

    Crucially Optional:

    A game rule ( /gamerule naturalThirst false ) or Hard-mode only feature.

    Summary:

Encourages exploration, deepens strategy, and is completely optional. Thank you!
