Intro: In the last Minecraft Q&A, the developers working on the Warden said that they wanted the warden to be like the sort of stalker creature from horror games where the player has to be careful and quiet to not be detected by the unstoppable alien/monster. They're pushing for this to the point of not even giving the Warden a drop in order to not give players an incentive to kill it.
Their vision of the Deep Dark seems to have its gameplay revolving around carefully sneaking around to find loot in the many chest scattered about, so I thought of a way to enhance these themes while giving players a method of defeating the Warden, a reward for doing so, all while preserving the gameplay the developers intend for it.
Body: Essentially have a block/tile entity called a Warden Heart spawn for each Warden, which the Wardens patrol the perimeter of. Make the Wardens themselves completely immune to damage and have no drops, but die when their heart is destroyed, which itself becomes the player's reward for exploring and sneaking past the warden.
Conclusion: I think this would fit perfectly with the ambient heartbeat, the hole in its chest, the whole theme of vibrations affecting things in the Deep Dark, and that its name literally means that they're guarding something.
