I want to have the ability to gather items like sand, gravel, and dirt, without having to completely destroy biomes.
I simply feel a tad sad when I need to gather sand from a desert or have to gather gravel from the beach, and later on in my playthrough, the biomes become completely barren of the resources I need, and I’m forced to go to another desert or beach, just to destroy it again, just to get more materials.
So here’s what I suggest: Composter Erosion. This could act as a new way to get things, like sand, gravel, and dirt, without destroying biomes. So to get dirt and podzol, you can throw any organic item, may it be rotten flesh, or an apple into the composter, and you have a 50/50 shot at getting some podzol or some dirt along with some bone meal.
Now to get items like sand, and gravel, you have to throw in some stone-based materials and throw some water in with the stone-based materials in the composter to allow the stone-based materials to “erode”, this will take some time and you won’t get a bone meal out of these.
Smooth Stone, Andesite, Diorite>Cobblestone>Gravel>Sand.
Red Sandstone, Granite>Red Sand.
Sand stone>Sand.
