Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Also, rusted Iron cannot be mined without silk-touch, for realism. Also, the first two stages can be abolished via the brush, but the final stage requires lightning to set it right.

I think exposing it to a water source would be enough

It would be cool if we had other materials that would oxidize as well, tbh. Unfortunately the only metals available are Iron (discussed here), Copper (already oxidizes), Gold (doesn't oxidize easily, iirc), and Netherite (fictional, and thus technically irrelevant). Gems don't oxidize, though certain kinds of stone might weather over time... Regular stone/cobble → mossy stone/cobble, anyone? Or perhaps an actual "weathered" variant that operates separately from the mossy? And what about mossy weathered/weathered mossy variants?

yes, we need this you can't just have copper rusting and not iron.
but I  think just making it cosmetic like copper would be the best.

Great idea! What about if rusted iron bars give you the wither effect when stepped on? (after a few days, and the wither effect lasts for in-game weeks)

Like the idea, they could make it work just like copper with 4 stages and wax to stop the process.

And also, Iron Golem to rust and not work like copper golem when oxidised.

I would really like to see rusted blocks in game I and i'm sure many other people could do so much with a block like that.

I would love iron that gets more and more corroded over time. We have copper that goes from orange to aquamarine. I would love a grey block like iron to have more of a texture change in addition to color. Deep red corrosion could help with all sorts of cool builds and create more ruined and industrial builds

I also think iron golem and armor should rust. I think they should rust regardless as their durability goes down, but they rust faster in contact with rain or water. Also, I think there should be a way to craft iron that doesn't rust, probably using amethyst to make it more useful

No, rusting is for copper only!

Maybe the rust cannot be scraped once it becomes at least weathered, however rusting faster can be done with wet sponges.

These are examples of iron rusting:
