Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

I know to a lot of people this is very controversial because of the nostalgia, and because how stone is characteristic to the game, but think about it logically for a few moments. Aside from all geological implications, this would be a very logical step gameplay wise. Stone simply refers to any type of rock. This made sense when there were no different types of rocks in Minecraft, it's all just stone. But then they added Granite, Andesite, Diorite and Blackstone. Even to that extent it would have still been okay, because Stone was still the only rock found all throughout the underground, so a general name still works. Then Deepslate was added, and now it makes absolutely no sense. If there could be a dominant type of stone with a complete section of its own in the underground, and still have a unique and real-world based name, then why is "the stone that appears above Y=0/regular stone" an exception? It's now so redundant and mind-aching to try and refer to the blocked called Stone; the game is litterally giving us tongue-twisters and that is definitely not good accessibility, especially for multiplayer. Communicating about what you find underground or more likely what you're building is just painful right now, and I don't think we should have to live with it because of pointless nostalgia reasons. The game needs to progress and should only look behind to reflect, not to stick to the past. 1/2

This is a situation a lot like the new ore textures. A lot of people are unhappy because of nostalgia, then quite a few realize "Wait, is this actually a small quality of life change that has little impact on how I play the game while making it more accessible and eliminating some needless pain, especially for new players? Is that also a change that I can revert with a simple resource pack?". Yes, and yes! Just imagine trying to describe the game to a new player with the current situation: "Below Y=0 you find Deepslate, based on slate from the real world, then above Y=0 you find a....uh..just stone, which makes perfect sense even though we do indeed have a ton of stone varieties and we have a counterpart for one of the two most common real world rocks. We're just missing the other one even though we have a perfect spot for it. You'll get used to it, mate." With that change it would just become Shale and Deepslate; makes sense to everybody from both a real world and game perspective, which a lot of new players definitely need so that the game feels inviting to them and they don't have to go through all of that mess and confusion when they just started. 2/2
