Abandoned Villages could have tools, armor, or emeralds buried.

Trinkets can then vary with different cultures associated with the ruins.(Reason to explore further)

I like this! All the ancient structures should have sweepable piles. Then certain pottery fragments could be available only in those structures, so desert related ones might be found in desert temples only.

I believe this is a great idea if the items and their availability depends on the locations of ancient structures. For example, maybe sea-related items have a higher chance of appearing in ocean ruins near the middle of the sea than ocean ruins that are near land.

Yeeeeees! This ways players wouldn't just show up, loot, and leave. They would actually spend time at these locations!

That's a great idea to add more to the existing structures as well as to exploration in general.

I'd love to see archeological sites deep in the world, but I don't think that it would make sense to have random lumps of sand/dirt/gravel in the middle of stone structures. Here's an alternative: why not making a special pickaxe that does to stone blocks what the brush does to dirt blocks?

You can find patterns for pots. They need to include patterns for stained glass and carpet. You craft it with one pattern and one glass/pot/carpet and one dye, in a crafting table.

Desert wells need to have pattern pieces that relate to wells, water and cacti.

desert temples will have patterns like the temple

    and so on
