If they implement the perk/NBT data to increase the odds of being struck by lightning per each piece of Copper Armor you have as well as Copper items in your hand, that should also be implemented to Chain, Gold, and Iron Armor and Items, since all said metals are conductive.

However making Copper the tier inbetween stone and iron would break world templates generated in older versions of Minecraft. This would cause issues for map creators who use older generated worlds for world templates.

I had this idea to but you where first
Anyway I had also the idea to let it "rust" like the blocks when "rust" it is also a little bit weaker

Nice idea! They could have a durability somewhere between 90 and 100, and they would be able to mine faster than iron and have higher attack speed because copper is a lighter metal in real life.

The only thing I don't agree with is the iron ore thing. I don't think they should do that to the stone pic instead I think instead it should be a tier between iron and diamond meaning you need a iron pickaxe to mine copper (currently it needs a stone pickaxe) and the copper armor and tools are better than iron tools and armor but not as good as diamond because wooden pickaxes and leather armor already fill the slot you proposed for copper I don't think the added risk of lighting strike would be worth it if it wasn't even as good as iron.

I don´t think they will ever add this idea, whowever I would like to see Bronze tools or armor made with Copper and other material. They would only be a little bit stronger than Iron but they would have more durability and echantability.

I think they should remove the stone tier entirely and add a copper tier. That way, the gap in-between the first tier and second tier isn't so immediate. Virtually all players use a wooden pickaxe to mine 3 stone and then never use a wooden tool ever again, this would incentive crafting wooden tools since it might be a minute before you can find enough copper.

This is a good idea, but you should still be able to mine iron without copper.

I think that if putting copper simply as a tier between stone and iron would upset the balance, it could be made into a "maverick" tier of sorts, just like Gold. Gold mines the fastest of all the blocks, but is very soft. So Copper could for instance be a "gold-lite" of sorts - as soft as gold, but with mining speed say, somewhere between Iron and Diamond for example.

I also liked the idea of Bronze (or alternativrly brass if that tickles your fancy) - since it's an alloy that makes copper tougher, it could work as a more traditional tier between Stone and Iron. But that's probably overkill, the most important idea is to make copper not follow the standard curve just like gold doesn't.

I think it would be better if copper tools were between gold and iron, but you can still go from stone to iron without copper. I think it should be an item used to upgrade gold with. If you combined gold and copper you could make a bronze ingot, and if you combined a gold and a copper tool of the same type in a smithing table you could make a bronze tool. Bronze could have the advantage of being at least the same as iron, maybe abit stronger. It could have the advantage of being liked by piglins too, so it's stronger than gold but you won't be attacked by piglins.

I really like this idea with copper pickaxe, right now the game has almost no progression, you get iron in 3min and then go down to stripmine until you get diamond. This is just broken, and they should add copper in between stone and iron to slow things down. Copper should be in between stone and iron, you should no longer be able to use stone to mine iron and iron should get a lot more rarer and generate lower down.

Great idea! I don’t think emerald tools should be a thing though. Emeralds already have a purpose, trading. Therefore I don’t think emerald tools should be a thing. But anyways, copper dosent have that much of a purpose so I think copper tools would be awesome and make copper more useful!

To be honest, Iron tools should be buffed durability wise, and Copper needs to be placed between Stone and Iron.  Basically make Iron roughly 500-600 Durability, and replace Iron's position with Copper, with Iron's old durability.

Why? Because Iron is just not durable enough and making something between iron and stone would be just silly.  Stone breaks quickly, Copper tools would be pointless if they were between iron/stone durability wise without giving Iron a durability buff to begin with.   Cost wise using stone would still be better than copper as copper just wouldn't have enough durability to be worth it, Iron barely does already.

You could also introduce Bronze Armor, and make it in between Iron and Leather Armor Protection wise/durability wise.

Many Ideas have been posted here related to copper tools.  I just wanted my 2 cents added.  I would like to see copper tools because of how much copper seems to be generated in the worlds.  Having said that, If it would cause issues for creators (as noted in other comments in the forums) making them the same stats as Iron tools, but a different color would be enough for me.  Honestly, I am just looking for more recipes at the crafting screens.

First and foremost we need copper tools and armour. Copper is almost useless at the moment, and copper tools that have a higher durability and faster mining speed than stone would be very useful, as well as realistic.

I don’t think it should replace stone as a tier. Stone should still be able to mine iron, but copper should just be an upgrade to be more efficient.

I see no reason why this should not be implemented as soon as possible.

Would love at least Shears to be able to be made from copper, it's so abundant and would make getting wool a lot easier.

It should be called bronze considering copper alone is a soft metal.

I see a lot of ppl saying it would “upset” the balance, however keep in mind, features don’t have to be op to be useful. It’s not as much about having something sought after for maximum power like diamond or netherite. It’s a middle ground for temporary use. Much like iron. I think it would be a good excuse as well to buff iron and possibly diamond gear. Maybe this is just a bedrock thing more so,but I find iron to be stupidly weak. It breaks far to quickly imo. Copper/bronze gear should take a few stat’s lower in defense than iron, but have the same durability. It would be a great mid tier platform.

No, I think instead, copper and iron should be equal. Copper and iron will likely have the same amount of value in the future, so it only makes sense to make their tool value be equal too. Plus, it would make mining faster, allowing players to mine at the same speed of an iron pickaxe without having to use a stone pickaxe constantly.

Hey! I love this idea and have some thoughts of my own to add to the discussion:

-Copper gear could "oxidize" as its durability got lower. It would change color and its stats would get better. For example, a freshly crafted copper sword does four damage points. Once it starts to oxidize, it does five, then six. This would create an incentive to use up the tools.

-In a thunderstorm, all copper gear would become "storm charged" and be even more powerful. A storm charged copper sword would have something similar to the channeling enchantment, summoning lightning to damage enemies. (As others have said, copper gear would also increase your chances of being struck by lightning. Risk and reward!)

Hope this gets implemented and gives y'all something to do with your copper stashes! :)

it will lose color based on duribility
