If you asked most people who the final boss of Minecraft is, they would say it's the Ender Dragon. After all, beating it launches the credits. Over the years, with tons of exciting new features, challenges, and areas added to the game, the Ender Dragon's "final boss" status has started to come into question - with so much post-game content to devour, does Minecraft even have a final boss anymore?
My idea seeks to fix Minecraft's progression system by forcing players to undertake other challenges in the game before beating the Ender Dragon. Without going into too much detail, every end portal frame should have to be completed by placing four special treasures dropped by four legendary boss fights across dimensions. For example:
The FIRE treasure is dropped by the Wither. (Nether Star?)
The WATER treasure is dropped by the Elder Guardian (Maybe the Heart of the Sea, if we remove the ability to craft it)
The LAND treasure is dropped by a boss who dwells deep within caves or on top of the mountains.
The AIR treasure is dropped by a boss in a new, anti-nether dimension (that you would need to visit woodland mansions to access) somewhere in the sky.
This update would rearrange all of Minecraft's features (and make room for future additions) into a cohesive, challenging narrative ending with a climactic Ender Dragon battle. The lore! The mystery! The incentive to raid Water Temples outside of sponges and gold!
