Surrounding a slime ball with sand, gravel, or any concrete powder will create "sticky (block)". There will be slime on the edges of the texture to show the difference between it and regular gravity blocks. These blocks won't fall when placed, but that's not the only thing the blocks do. After a random amount of time (determined by the random tick speed) they will turn back into their regular versions. This allows players to make sand traps in a custom dungeon, or build a more ambient and dynamic cave with the particles falling from the ceiling.
Now I do see one particular problem with this idea that the developers need to consider, and it may not allow this feature to be implemented, or at least not be as useful when placed in bulk. If a player places a bunch of sticky sand next to each other, and they start turning back into regular sand, the conversions can cause block updates and make all of the blocks fall. This wouldn't stop single blocks from falling, but 2 or more would make the blocks fall.
If this specific suggestion doesn't exactly work, I do still believe players should be able to somehow place gravity blocks in midair to make traps and better caves. Thanks for your time reading :3
