Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Tree Roots Block (Above Ground)

The base log of oak/dark oak trees should have roots that spread out, to look like they go into the ground.

When broken they become a normal log, unless using a silk touch axe.

Imagine the building possibilities of a natural tree base shape, especially for Elvish/nature style builds!

    Also roots need to be above ground so cutting trees doesn't leave lots of holes in the landscape.

    Maybe roots could either hang down off blocks like chains can, or they could be placed on the sides of blocks like vines or fences. Also if you had silk touch you could get a root block but if not you just pick up sticks.
     
    I think it would be very useful for people wanting to build custom trees, and they could also hang down in caves to show how close the player is to the surface.
