Interesting idea but for the sake of balance maybe it wouldn't be stackable with either mending or unbreaking. So that its usefull but not op

I would like this just so I could display an item but use it to it's max extent

I feel like this would be good so you can repair you armor later if it's going to break and so your other enchantments dont come off and you dont need to search for more books or trying to get the same enchant in an enchantment table

Defeats the purpose of the durability system.

IronWolf6681 yes exactly i agree that it defeats the purpose of duribality system so it should not exist

Good idea but kinda op, make it incompatible with unbreaking

I Think the enchantment should only be optained from woodland mansions. Otherwise it would ruin the use of the durability system

I say it should be a one time use on something, and can only be found in woodland mansions or stuff like that.

I like it. This is like what happens with Elytra, when they're "broken" they actually just have 1 durability point and are unusable. Very useful.

Everlasting I : item stops working at 1 hp and doesn't break but enchant is removed from the item when repaired.

Everlasting II : same as Everlasting I expect it downgrades to Everlasting I when repaired as compared to being fully removed.

Curse of Neverlasting I: every 5 hp lost removes 1 additional hp. (breaking 5 blocks removes same durability as if 6 blocks were broken or similar rate of extra damage to tool/armor).

None may be combined with unbreaking or mending of any level.

    Efficiency worsens effects of curse

Enchantment itself would no not be too rare and can level one Everlasting could be found via fishing, enchantment table (idk what lvl/number of bookshelves), end city and ocean ruins or whatever you call them(not the guardian temples).

Higher levels can be found in treasure chests, end city and a rare chance while fishing. And of course combining two lvl ones on an anvil.

Curse can appear anywhere the other curses appear.

Interesting idea: rather than a standard enchantment book the Everlasting I/II could be a type of scroll that doesn't increase the xp cost to repair but rather can only be applied to a specific item once every so many in-game days or under certain circumstances (example :can only be applied if player has 40+xp levels during a thunderstorm)

That's great it just can't be stackable with mending.

It would stack with mending because the item stops working or pops off into your inventory, mending would stop. Therefore neverlasting would be pointless you'd never break it enough to activate it.

They should add this. I think it would have to be either/or with Unbreaking though. Some people have said instead of mending but that would make this emchant obsolete

Yeh I think it's a good idea but to balance out it should delete all enchantments when it's used that way theirs a con to using it

I feel like this is very broken if you have mending but it would be just like the elytra, instead of breaking it just stops working, then if it has mending which it probably would since mending is important, then you just go to your xp farm to fix it I have broken way to many mending pickaxes and this would help a lot

I think this would be a good enchantment to add. I like the idea of being able to use my item and then display it when it stops working. Good idea, SpryYapper9140!

I like the people here who are saying it's to OP or ruins durability as if this isn't already a thing on the elytra

I think it's a pretty good idea, but if you have a full inventory and you can't make another pickaxe, or whatever, and you don't have the resources to make another one it would be really inconvenient, so you would probably have to keep another of that in your inventory, but other than that I think it's a pretty good idea!

I love it. This is a very cool idea that I think would fit in with the game nicely. And I personally think this should become a feature.

I like this idea! But it obviously wont be compatible with either Unbreaking or Mending. It may even take extra durability away like Thorns or Soul Speed does.

As cool as this is, the XP cost of repair rises with every repair, until you get the dreaded "Too expensive" message. So unless this enchantment also causes the price not to rise, its usefulness would be limited.

I think it won't be useful if you use mending and unbraking 3 and fight mobs enough you will get enough xp to fix your armor my aromor's duribility never gets to yellow because it is mended enough and I go a long time before fixing it

I think it's a good idea, but I think that it would defeat the purpose of the durability system. So maybe it would be super hard to find? Like, you can only find it in a woodland mansion

Or maybe just have the item change to a broken texture with it gets blow 20 durability.

I thinm it is a gr8 idea but it can be op with mending but unbreaking 3 is normal now so it should go with that but curbing the tool or armor to like prot 3 or feather falling 2 so it dosent become that op stable but not a tank

    Like this ide?

Mack it one of the rarest enchanting books with a 0.001%

A lot of people are saying this would defeat the purpose of the durability system, but unbreaking and mending already defeat the purpose of the durability system.

I like the idea of having this as an alternative to those enchants
