In my opinion; there is a big problem with minecraft and it's item progression system. Iron is far too common in it's current state. As a fairly experienced player (playing for around 8 years) upon starting a new world i can acquire atleast 2 sets of full iron and an anvil in around 1 and a half hours. Now this is not innately bad because it allows for us older players to jump right into the action whilst newer players can get geared up and learn the basic systems of the game. I feel perhaps that an new ore that is along the lines of chain (perhaps with an additional effect like low durability). The way this ore would spawn is in a ratio with coal at a higher level, then at a lower to mid level it spawn in a ratio with coal and iron. Then when lapis and redstone begin to spawn it becomes rarer, then at gold level it is no existent. I'm thinking an ore such as copper. This could also make for a very nice metal block for building too and would make iron a much more cherished item and iron golems more valuable in certain circumstances. This could, as many would suggest, factor into a cave update, where maybe this ore can spawn in all biomes but iron limited to some. I won't speak on a cave update now since alot more people have presented amazing ideas.
