Right now, minecraft is fun. There are no questions about that... but it is missing something huge. That something huge is progression & risk.
Now, I understand there is an endgame boss, however, there are no real reason to defeat the endgame boss other than rewards... and in all honesty, it's the only boss that progresses the game. The wither does do his share of rewards too, being a beacon. But why don't we also have a little bit of extra progression to give Minecraft a new storyline...
You folks at mojang studios are way more creative then I could ever be so here is my idea on how progression would work. However, you can make it any way you would like to.
1. We start out the world as normal.
2. When the nether portal is built, the nether will begin to spread into the overworld. Which begins to be a problem as the nether biome introduces some of the nether creatures into the overworld. (If you do this idea of progression, please don't add ghasts or blazes to the Overworld Nether Biome)
3. The blocks slowly begin to spread, turning any dirt or stone into netherite, sand into soul sand, and gravel into soul soil
Team at Mojang... try to get creative with how to stop the spreadt of the nether into the overworld.
4. Defeat the wither... which will unlock the ability for enderman (unlocking the end) to spawn, along with new, harder mobs that the public has never seen. Along with the spreading of the nether
(Which brings up that the wither is very easy to cheese)
