Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

I love this please add this in.  It also could be used for big trains with a minecart furnace.  That would be sick.

I think that being able to also use leads to connect minecarts would be awesome. Also, that would make furnace minecarts useful in some way, if you want to create a steam train-type of thing, for example.

this would be a great idea, especialy too make something that could be like a system that transports minecarts with chest and a minecart with a furnace so you could transport a lot of items in it and it could make moving from one house to another easier if you are transporting things that can't fit in 1 chest

    I like the idea.

There is already a method of linking minecarts with furnace carts via pushing them into the back of one another. However, this method is very fragile and the trains come undone on every turn in the track.

I personally think using chains to link carts would be so much easier and more effective.

We could make a train with minecarts

Mojang needs to add this, I was building a mineshaft and was wondering if minecart links were in the game

    I agree.

in addition to that for the second part of the update, they should add that in since it's actually the caves part of the update and also a good idea would be to be able to choose which direction a furnace Minecart faces so then like that you can have trains in the game, or just had a locomotive engine which can be used for a lot of things and it can use copper and other materials.

Revive this idea! I don't like the thought of minecarts being a single seater. It should be possible make it a "multi-seater" :D

Also similarly use leads to tie multiple boats together and add chests to haul stuff

This would revolutionize nether storage travel, and allow for fully (industrialized) areas it would allow so much

Excellent idea! I will go beyond that and suggest unified physics for those trains, incorporating parts of this other idea that requests changes for physical aspects of individual minecarts, like weight, ability to push aside mobs or even ran of them (dealing damage) without considerable momentum change, etc.

A very amazing reference for this is TrainCarts, a plugin that was pioneer in implementing this concept as a mod. Here is some videos showcasing how it brilliantly works. Look how tight the minecarts go together using that plugin. I see other mods that implemented minecart linking, and since none actually changed the physics when the minecarts are connected, the result is that one minecart ends up bumping into the neigboor one, basically killing any forward movement needed for autonomous railroads.

Of course, things like the automation system using signs can be ignored, because i think that, if the linked minecarts had shared inertia/momentum and doesn't go bumping each other, the player can actually use existent redstone mechanics to automatize stations and such.

Another feature that can be added in tandem to add even more possibilites is a NBT tag for entities to keep the chunk they are in loaded, regardless of player presence in the region (i remade that suggestion here in the site, pending approval). If both ideas gets in the game, players can actually made long-range autonomous railroads without the need of any mod, that can revolutionize the transport in-game.

Like the idea. I think maybe the more minecarts linked, the faster you can go. So 1 cart is still 8m/s, 2 at 9m/s, 3 10m/s to maybe 16 at 24m/s. To control these, you shouldn’t need a furnace cart, (a lot of) powered rails will boost to full speed. Perhaps if the powered rail is only at a certain signal strength, it will boost/slow down to a speed (so powered rails at 5 signal strength make the carts go to 10m/s).

You could balance this by long trains not being able to go up steep hills or around sharp corners (E.g., a 4 long train going up 1 block for every 4 across, and goes around 4 block radius corners).

And if a chain-linked minecart is picked up, the chain would pop out similar to leads from mobs.

yea being able to connect the minecarts together is a great idea. what about also being able to change the hight of the incline or the steepness of a drop? what about adding loops so we can make loop de loops or barrel rolls and more?

We still need this! Lets try and get attention for this, I think this would be an amazing idea

The best part about this is that you can finally use furnace minecarts to move along rails
