I think players should be discouraged to use F3 in normal gameplay, and the lodestone is very close to solving avery common problem that players practically have to use F3 to do: pairing up portals between the Nether and the Overworld.
Before I found out you added lodestones I had the exact same idea, but with a way to upgrade them to be interdimensional.
The way I see it working is that a lodestone compass tethered anywhere else than the End, should point toward the End Portal in the End dimension. And in the overworld it should point to the 8x8x1 area (or any of the 4 center blocks in that area) matching the lodestone coordinate of the Nether and vice versa.
If the lodestone is in the end, it could point toward the nearest activated end portal. Or if easier, just the nearest stronghold. It's a consideration that it would defeat the purpose of ender eyes though, but if the recipe included an item from the end dimension, it would be an incidental late game perk. I think it would be better if it only pointed towards activated portals though. Or maybe it just didn't work for end dimensions. It's the overworld and nether that really matters.
To make it intuitive, there would need to be an indication that the target location is in another dimension.
